· First, state the conflict. Remember to state it as “something vs. something else” as it is in the list.

· Next, describe the nature of the conflict. This means to tell which characters’ behavior/comments illustrate this conflict, and which of the two sides of the conflict they represent.

· Then, use a

direct quotation
from the play to illustrate the conflict. Introduce the quote by telling your reader who is speaking, and to whom they are speaking, then state the entire quote. (The quote itself should not be longer than 3-4 sentences, however.)

· In parentheses after the quote, cite the page number of the document for where the quote comes from.

· Finally, after stating the quote, tell HOW the quote helps to illustrate the conflict.

NOTE: Make sure that for each conflict, you select a passage of the play that includes language which relates to or illustrates the conflict. If the quote is irrelevant, you will lose points.
